motorcycle windscreens
Motorcycle windscreens are usually considered as an element of style, look and feel rather than an element of use or safety. People fit Windshields for their bikes just for the sake of looks, people usually decide to attach a high-mounted Winshield, which is definitely appealing to look at. Ironically, they seem to miss the point of having a windshield.
A windshield on a bike is supposed take away any distortion out of your eye?s sight and to keep bugs, scratches and other particles from entering into your view. It should be low enough to give you a clean view of the road. Although you may hate the noise and turbulence that?s created by the air blasting onto your motorcycle helmet which are both annoying and tiresome, it is not advisable to keep your windshield too high
in front of your bike.
Industry experts frequently recommend cutting down your windshield. Although this can only be put in to practice if the windshield is damaged, or if you're looking to customizing your bike, the primary reason for cutting down a windscreen is to clear your line of vision. Your bike's windshield should be low enough that you can comfortably see the road over it. This will still provide you with wind protection comparable with a windshield that extends above your eye level. It would make your bike much safer to ride -- it gets rid of any distortion out of your line of sight and it keeps obscurations like exploded bugs from hindering your view.
There are some products available in the market, which may help you resolve this issue. Companies like Laminar LLC make a product called the ?LIP? that can be mounted to the top of a motorcycle windshield to provide additional wind, bug, and rain protection. It is found that if a rider is looking just overtop a windshield, he will experience buffeting at least at the top of his head/helmet. By mounting a LIP, while still keeping it below the rider's line of sight, the buffeting will be removed.
